BROWNS FARM RIDGE, owned and operated by Blake and Daniel Brown, is a first-generation purebred Angus operation and a fourth-generation beef cattle operation located in Boone, North Carolina.

IN THE 1950'S ROY VIRGIL "RV" & EULA BROWN, purchased several farms in addition to the family's home place and launched the Brown family into modern production agriculture. During the 1950's and 1960's the farm focused on commercial cabbage, potato, and tomato production, as well as beef cattle.

IN THE 1970'S, as the production of produce left the mountains for Florida and New York, "RV" transitioned the farm into a stocker and silage operation, and custom harvesting business.  Eventually exiting the stocker and silage business in the early 90's, turning the farms focus to the cow-calf operation that would continue for the next two decades.  "RV's" son Dr. Blake Brown, an Agricultural Economics professor at NC State University, would eventually take over the family's farming operation in the mid 2000's.

HI CNTRY FREEDOMS TRADITION, the matriarch of the nationally renowned BFR bred "Willa Bea" family, from the late Claude Austin of Boone, NC and launched the Brown Family into the Angus business.  The Browns son Daniel showed cattle locally as a youth and continued his show career to the state and national levels, becoming active in the North Carolina Junior Angus as President as well as the National Junior Angus Association.
